‘Spathoglottis Jetsuniae’ is a new orchid species named in honour of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck.
It is named in the respectful honour of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen who has a dedicated and sincere interest in the protection of the environment. Nima Gyeltshen and Kezang Tobgyel of the National Biodiversity Centre, and Stig Dalstrom of the University of Costa Rica discovered the new orchid species.
It was first discovered in 2016 in Zhemgang. Bhutan now has 470 orchid species including the newly discovered species.
