The education ministry plans to provide every teacher in the country a laptop each by the end of 12th Five Year Plan. This was decided at the recent Sherig Conference held at Sonamthang Central School in Panbang, Zhemgang.
Thimphu’s Chief Dzongkhag Education Officer (DEO) Tashi Namgyal said all schools across the country would be connected with internet by the end of 12th FYP.
The facility, he said, will help teachers teach better. “A laptop is a portable device that can easily help our teachers plan better lessons and access information easily, which would help enhance their teaching capacity,” the DEO said.
He added the students stand to benefit more. “They will be able to understand well because the teachers are better prepared.”
DEO Tashi Namgyal also believes providing laptops and internet access will boost the morale of teachers. “I’m sure our teachers will work harder and their performance would improve.”
