New parking lot key to easing traffic in Trashigang town

From next month, Trashigang town will have a new parking lot that is expected to address traffic congestion in the town.

As of now, more than 90 per cent of the parking space has been constructed. Once complete, it will accommodate around 70 vehicles. Currently, without a designated parking area, cars are parked along the roadsides, making it more inconvenient for motorists to drive along the motorways in town. “The newly constructed parking lot will significantly contribute is decongesting the town,” said one of the residents, Tandin Wangchuk.

Others have similar thoughts to share. “Just now we have to do many rounds to get a suitable place to park our cars. But once this parking space is usable, we can park cars here,” said another resident, Tshewang Dorji.

The government is spending Nu 55 M for the project which commenced since the end of 2016.
