The four-day annual Lhuentse Tshechu began today at the courtyard of Lhuentse Dzong.
People from Lhuentse and other nearby places flocked at the courtyard to witness the dzongkhag’s biggest festival. A few tourists were also spotted at the festival.
Over the next three days, mask dances such as Sachhog Zhana Chham, Sha Zam Chham, Daegye Bakchham and other cultural programmes will be showcased. The tshechu will conclude on Sunday with unfurling of Guru Thongdrel for public veneration.
The Lhuentse Tshechu was instituted some three centuries ago by Yongzin Ngagay Wangchuk.
