Singapore hands Bhutan’s second defeat

Bhutan was handed its second defeat in the ongoing ACC under-16 Eastern Region Cup by Singapore, today. Playing at the RCGC ground, Bhutan had put in a spirited fight but lost the match by seven wickets.

After the defeat to China yesterday, the young Bhutanese boys had to show the opposition, Singapore, that there will be no rollover. And the boys did exactly that. The toss went in favor of the Singaporean boys who elected to field first. When play started, Singaporean players had only one thing in mind; to bowl Bhutan out as quickly as possible.

However, Bhutan made sure they played the entire 35 overs. Exactly doing what the coach told them to. Bhutan managed to score 66 runs losing nine wickets in the process.

Chasing the target of 67 runs, Singapore lost their first wicket in the first over. Bhutan managed another wicket and put Singapore in some pressure. However, with the bowlers required to defend a very low score, Bhutan lost the match in the 11th over.

A seven-wicket defeat and a much improved batting performance. With the defeat, Bhutan stands no chance to make it to the semifinals. Bhutan will play its final group B match against Malaysia on Thursday.
