Photo exhibition in honour of Fourth Druk Gyalpo opens at RTA

A photo exhibition, in honour of the fourth Druk Gyalpo, opened at the Royal Textile Academy (RTA) in Thimphu, today. The exhibition features a candid portraiture of over 5,000 Bhutanese from different walks of life sharing a same Tashi Khadar blessed by His Holiness the Je Khenpo

Her Majesty the Queen Mother Sangay Choden Wangchuck graced the occasion. ‘Moen-Lam: A Nation pauses to Pray’ is a nationwide photographic campaign held during the auspicious year in 2015, when the country celebrated the 60th birthday of the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

Collaborated with the Royal Textile Academy, Artist Karma Jigme said the portraits traverse different ethnic, caste, creed, gender, age, political and professional background; and come together to offer respects and prayers for long life and good health of the fourth Druk Gyalpo.

“I as a photographer and artist, I have captured that little moment as a tribute to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo,” said Artist Karma Jigme.

It took him over four months and 20 districts for the ‘ Moen-Lam’ collection. The exhibition remains open to the public for three months at the Royal Textile Academy gallery.
