Bhutan U16 loses second practice match to Thailand U16

Bhutan’s Under-16 boys cricket team lost their second practice match against Thailand yesterday. The team is in Thailand ahead of the Asian Cricket Council Eastern Region Cup. The tournament begins on Monday with Bhutan under-16 taking on China under-16 team.

Looking to improve the batting performance from the previous match, Bhutan elected to bat first after winning the toss. However, the plan backfired.

Thailand gave nothing away in terms of extra runs and made sure Bhutan was made to play every ball. The whole Bhutanese team was bowled out for just 77 runs.

For Thailand, it took them just 22 overs to achieve the target of 78 runs. This was a huge morale booster for the Thailand which will play against Nepal, Myanmar, and Hong Kong.

“It is hard, the boys haven’t played together for long but we will only improve. We know what we have to do but it hasn’t’ come off yet. We still have few more days to work on our weakness before the tournament begins,” said Kencho Norbu, the Coach of Bhutan U16.

The Bhutanese team will travel to Chang Mai, a city in northern Thailand, where they will play all their group B matches.
