Dagana BHU faces space crunch

Lack of spacious space in the community health care unit of Dagana BHU Grade 1 has affected providing quality health care to the people. However, this will not be the case by the end of this financial year 2017-18 since a two-storied community health unit building will be complete.

The community health care unit focuses on immunisation of newborn babies, postnatal and antennal care services, paps smear and family planning among others.

On an average, the unit caters to over 300 mothers and babies per month. The service providers said giving quality health service is compromised due to inadequate space.

“Among all the services, we provide lubeinsertionservice to prevent pregnancy which needs to be done in a separate room.  But without enough space we are giving this service in a ward with other patients,” said Gyem Lham, Health Assistant of Dagana BHU.

However, BHU staff look forward to completion of the two-storied building which will enhance effective medical services to the people.

The government has spent Nu 5.4 M for the project.
