Phuentshogling Police comes up with measures to prevent carjacking

Phuentshogling Police recovered a stolen Bolero that went missing in April this year. Similarly, the town saw many cases of carjacking, especially the bolero pick-up trucks. To avoid car thefts, the police have now initiated a separate registration for the boleros at the main exit and entry gate.

To curb the crime, four CCTV cameras have been installed nearby the main gate last month to monitor vehicular movement and other commercial activities. With this kind of measures in place, police are hoping that carjacking cases will become a thing of past in Phuentshogling town.

Meanwhile, the recovered Bolero was found in Bhim Nagar, an Indian town at the Nepal border. In April, this year, the Bolero along with the owner went missing. According to police, the owner was allegedly murdered in the forests of Hasimara in West Bengal. The case is now being dealt by the High Court in Thimphu.

Since 2015, about 17 boleros were stolen from the town. Due to simple key-lock combination, boleros are targeted the most.
