A group from Ladakh offers Ku-Sung-Thug-Ghi-Mendrel to His Holiness

A group led by the administrator of the two largest monasteries in Ladakh, India, offered their Ku-Sung-Thug-Ghi-Mendrel to His Holiness the Je Khenpo at the Kuensel Phodrang in Thimphu today.

With utmost compassion and devotion, the group, representing the Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche, offered their prayers to His Holiness the Je Khenpo. The group comprises of two monks and two representatives from the local Buddhist community in Ladakh. One of the members said the Buddhism is the key factor that connects them with the Bhutanese people and also a reason for attending the oral transmission of Kanjur.

“We were instructed and told by His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa and he always wished us to have a very good relationship with Bhutan because there are so many similarities between Ladkhis and Bhutanese in terms of religion and culture,” said Rinchen Wacher, the President of Young Drukpa Association in Ladakh.

The group will be in Bhutan for the next five days, to further strengthen the strong religious and spiritual relationship between Bhutan and Ladakh.

Including the Bhutanese devotees, various spiritual personalities from different monastic institutions in Nepal and India also offered Ku-Sung-Thug-Ghi-Mendrel to His Holiness the Je Khenpo.

Ku-Sung-Thug-Ghi-Mendrel is one of the integral parts of the religious offerings in Buddhism. It is also believed to be one of the best ways to accumulate merits and purify oneself from all the sins.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of devotees from all over the country are attending the oral transmission daily.  The oral transmission will end during the first week of November and considered to be one of the biggest religious events in the capital in recent memory.
