In the finals of the Departmental football tournament in Samdrup Jongkhar, team SD United walked away with the winner’s trophy, yesterday.
Their opponent team Samdrup Jongkhar BPC bagged the runners-up trophy. During the match, both teams scored one goal each and to determine the winner, players had penalty shootout.
Team SD United took home a cash prize of Nu 35,000 and team Samdrup Jongkhar BPC received Nu 25,000.
Fifteen teams from various departments in Samdrupjongkhar participated in the tournament which was organised by Samdrup Jongkhar Middle Secondary School.
Phoja Nga takes home the winner’s trophy in Khuru tournament
Team Phoja Nga won the two-day Yangphel-style Open Khuru- a traditional dart tournament in Monggar, yesterday.
They defeated team KHP and Monggar Gewog. The tournament saw around 30 teams and was organised by a individual to promote indigenous sports.
Traditional Archery tournament kick starts in Chamkhar
A traditional archery tournament has begun at Chamkhar in Bumthang yesterday.
Thirteen teams are participating in the tournament. Two private individuals are organising the tournament. It is intended to help promote traditional archery in the community. The final will be played this Saturday.
