Dagana’s DT endorses opening of Internet Cafes

People living in Daga town in Dagana have been finding it difficult to avail themselves of G2C services without an ICT Centre. However, things are expected to improve since the recent Dzongkhag Tshogdu (DT) sitting approved establishment of an ICT business in the town.

During DT, members unanimously decided and agreed to the ICT officer’s proposal of ICT business startup in Daga Throm. Today, there is no ICT shop or business in Daga throm to provide Internet, photocopy, and binding services.

The opportunity to start the business will be given to young entrepreneurs who have the potential and clear business idea. Officials said this will also help curb the youth migrating to the urban areas.

“For villagers, they can use internet at community information centres. But for those living in urban setting, they cannot since there are no community information centres. So, the ICT business will cater to the urban residents,” said Yeshi Peldon, the Assistant Dzongkhag ICT Officer.

Meanwhile, the dzongkhag will support the entrepreneur in procuring ICT equipment and technical support. The dzongkhag administration will use a small portion of Dzongkhag Development Grant to support the applicants financially.
