Bhutan prepares for SAFF Under-18 Championship

Bhutan will host the 2017 SAFF Under-18 Championship, which begins Monday. Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, The Maldives, and Nepal are the participating nations.

The young Bhutanese players are going the extra mile as they gear up for the championship. Led by Coach Song Jun Lee, the Bhutan’s Under- 18 team have been preparing for the championship for months now.

From tactical discussions on board to trying it out in the field, the team is giving their best to be ready in time for the championship. “We are training hard and the coordination among the players is improving,” said Nima Tshering, the team Captain.

“I hope we will be able to perform well during the SAFF Championship.”

The coach was seen trying to make tactical adjustments among the players but he said it’s difficult to have all players come to practice on time due to school programmes.

“The most important are the first two games against the Maldives and Nepal,” said Coach Song Jun Lee.

Bangladesh and India will start off the tournament at 4 pm Monday, followed by Bhutan’s opening match against the Maldives. All matches will be played at the Changlimithang.
