Imposter receives 17 years sentence

The Punakha Dzongkhag court has sentenced a man from Pemagatshel to 17 years and 6 months in prison for corruption and deception.

Sonam Gyeltshen pretended to be working for the office of the Gyalpoi Zimpon.

He went to the Welcome Hotel at Khuruthang and told the owner that he will re-open the case concerning their daughter who was found murdered a few years ago. He duped the hotel owner and took away Nu. 700,000.

Sonam Gyeltshen was also charged with seven other offences.
