Salang tendrel for mini dry port construction held

The salang tendrel or ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the first ever mini dry port in Phuentshogling was conducted today.

The development of mini dry port was planned 15 years ago.

Once complete by the end of next year, the port will house over 45 heavy vehicles and is expected to ease traffic congestion in Phuentshogling town.

The congestion at the present customs clearing area is also expected to reduce as most trucks will then be diverted to the dry port. The port will be used as warehouse and for transshipping as well.

The mini dry port will be built on over five acres of land. Asian Development Bank will be funding the over Nu 130m project.
