104 bikers compete in open mountain bike race

His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck graced the open mountain bike race, yesterday. The race was organized as part of DANTAK’s 56th raising day.

Kuenga Norbu, 23, won the men’s open category winning a cash prize of Nu 50,000 and a bike.

Sixty-year-old Philip Stigant won the race in the veteran’s category. In the women’s open category, 50-year-old Anne Philips from Australia took away the first prize. Only 10 women took part in the competition.

Palden Wangchuk, a 16-year-old student took the first position in the junior category.

The 100 kilometre race was flagged off from Thimphu and took the bikers to Paro and back to Thimphu.

A total of 104 bikers, old and young took part in the mountain bike race. The race was organized for Junior, open and veteran categories.

Her Majesty the Queen Mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck awarded the prizes to the winners.
