B-mobile looks for solution to network congestion

Oct 26, 2011

B-Mobile will be doubling the number of channels from the existing 13,000 which is expected to reduce network congestion significantly.

Pushpa Mani Pradhan, the General Manager of B-Mobile said “by the end of 2012, we will have about 25,000 to 30,000 channels.”

This will allow 60,000 people to talk to each other at the same time.”

Users have been complaining about network congestion especially during emergencies, for instance the September 18 earthquake, when everybody was calling friends and family members at the same time.

Network congestion occurs when a lot of people are calling each other at the same time. B-mobile has 330,000 users but only 13,000 channels.

B-mobile said it will give priority to disaster management officials in the event of a natural disaster.
