Sep 26, 2011

With the royal wedding round the corner, the staff of Wood Craft Centre in Langjophaka, Thimphu, are working round the clock.

The Wood Craft Centre has received orders for furniture worth Nu. 400,000 for the historic occasion.

To meet the fast approaching deadline, the staff are working overtime, beginning the day’s job at 7am and calling it day at 11pm.

The actual working hours is from 9 am to 5pm.

Mon Bahdur Rai, the General Manager, said they are extremely busy.

“We already we have some orders but we have to give priority to the royal wedding.”

A few staff take turns cooking the dinner in the campus of the centre so that the others can focus on the work.

So far, the centre has finished making 80 percent of the furniture. They will be used in Punakha and Thimphu during the royal wedding.
