Monks washed away by river

Two monks were washed away by the Drangme Chu River this afternoon in Trashiyangtse.

The incident took place at around 2 pm. The monks who were 24 and 27-year-old were students of the Rigzin Thoesam Choling Shedra in Ramjar. They were collecting sand for the construction of the Shedra with other monks. According to eye witnesses, after they finished loading the DCM Truck, the two went to wash in the river.

They said one of the monks got stuck in the sinking sand. When the other went to help his friend, both got washed away by the river.

A search team is looking for their bodies.

  1. Y monks washed away all the time Ramjar Monastery………..last year aslo, it needs to be investigated and informed the parents.
