The State Trading Corporation of Bhutan Limited (STCBL) that primarily deals with sale of vehicles registered record increase in its profit. Its profit increased from Nu 7 M to Nu 71 M in 2015.
It was mainly attributed to the lifting of restrictions on vehicle imports in mid 2014.
“In 2014, we sold only 80 units of Toyota vehicles and in 2015, we sold over 460 units. The profit therefore grew by about 800 percent between the two years,” said STCBL’s Chief Executive Officer, Yeshey Seldon.
She said they also undertook other cost cutting measures. Besides, their sales volume increased due to diversification and business expansion, Yeshey Seldon added.
