The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister of West Bengal state in India, Mamata Banerjee, yesterday. The ceremony was held in the state’s capital, Kolkata.
Mamata Banerjee took her oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal at Red Road, a historically significant boulevard of Kolkata.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay also met and interacted with the Governor of West Bengal, Keshari Nath Tripathi and some members of the Indian Parliament.
Prior to taking over the charge as West Bengal’s Chief Minister officially, Mamata Banerjee met with Lyonchhen. The two leaders exchanged pleasantries. On behalf of His Majesty The King, His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo and The Gyaltsuen, Prime Minister conveyed congratulations to Mamata Banerjee for her successful election.
As a gesture of goodwill, Lyonchhen also presented a silver butter lamp to the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay returned to the country, today.
