Queen Mother inaugurates Bjemina-Chimithanka road

Queen Mother inaugurates Bjemina-Chimithanka road Her Majesty the Queen Mother Tshering Pem Wangchuck inaugurated the resurfaced feeder road connecting Bjemina and Chimithanka in Thimphu today. The feeder road was resurfaced with concrete and blacktopping by project Dantak at a cost of Nu 15M.

The road has been improved in a bid to speed up the on going construction of the rehabilitation centre located in Tsaluna.

However, the road leading to the new rehab centre has also benefited the locals in terms of reduced taxi fare. Taxi drivers who initially charged Nu 500 are now willing to ferry passengers at Nu 300 from Khasadrapchu to Chimithanka.

There are around 45 households who will benefit from the new road.

The rehabilitation centre, which will accommodate 60 people, will be completed by next year-end. The centre is looking to provide wholesome programs to its occupants ranging from life skills to vocational skill programs.

Program officer Kinley Tenzin said all such efforts would be made to ensure the occupants manage to lead a drug free life.
