Dzongsar community school to get new building

Jun 16, 2011

Dzongsar community primary school in Tendruk Geog under Samtse Dzongkhag is badly in need of a new school building. The school was closed down in the 1990s due to security problem. It was reopened in 2009, after minor maintenance.

The walls are cracked, the parapet is broken, and partitions are flimsy.

Tshering Phuntsho, the principal, said “this building has been lying in ruins without a roof for years. We carried out minor maintenance and fixed the windows and the roof but a few days later, a hailstorm damaged the roof completely.

The Geog office informed the Government, we at least have a CGI roof.”

The school hopes to get a new academic building.

“There are plans to construct a new school building but due to some land related issues, we were not able to finalise,” said the principal.

The land problem has now been solved. A new school building with six classrooms will be constructed soon.
