Men arrested for allegedly forging visasTwo men are in police custody in Paro for allegedly attempting to forge visas of 19 Thai tourists.

On the morning of April 4, immigration officials at the Paro airport found 19 Thai tourists from a group of 28 had forged visas.

Of the two arrested, one is the owner of the tour company through which the tourists came in and the other an employee at the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

The two men were arrested by the Police the next day. It is believed the two men tried to obtain official visas for the 19 tourists which would be Royalty free.

Police and immigration officials both refused to comment.

The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, during Meet the Press, today said such incidence is embarrassing as it not only flouts the law but also ruins country’s reputation. “The accused will be taken to the court as per the law.”
