“We don’t know when the Tshechu was instituted. Even our grandparents are not able to say. I think the tshechu was initiated during the time of Choejey Drukpa Kinley,” said Touchu, the Gup, Toedwang Gewog.Local tshechu reinstated after 35 years--

No one knows why the Tshechu was not held for so many years. And the locals speculate that there would have been problems among the residents.

“I think the Tshechu could not be continued due to lack of cooperation among the people in the village. Also in the past, local leaders in the village might have failed to cooperate,” said the Gup Touchu.

Whatever be the reasons, the villagers are happy that they have come together to reinstate their Tshechu.
