The Ministry of Economic Affairs has finalised Mineral Development Policy. The draft policy will be submitted to the Cabinet within a week’s time.
The economic affairs minister, Norbu Wangchuk said the draft policy has been refined after several consultations with the World Bank and other international agencies. “I am affirmative that the draft policy will be endorsed as a National policy.”
Lyonpo also said the ministry was mindful of the issues associated with the draft policy from the miner’s point of view as well as from the stakeholders.
He said the draft policy has been refined in such a way that it provides a sound direction for the mineral policy to be implemented across the broad. The mineral development policy was drafted in 2009.
