Judiciary feels the need to ensure trust and confidence

Judiciary feels the need to ensure trust and confidenceA major problem the judiciary in the country faces is to ensure trust and confidence of the people in the justice delivery system. The judiciary feels the constant amendments and enactments of the laws contribute to the trust deficit.

The Supreme Court’s Registrar General, Tshering Dorji said there is a need to devise means and strategies to provide information to the people on new laws enacted by the parliament.

The judiciary will conduct thorough research on judicial responsibility and accountability to come up with the system to inspire public confidence and trust.

Tshering Dorji said the judiciary plans to establish reform division to formulate and adopt policies and programs.

As society expects the judge to be fair and person of high integrity and honesty, judges are to individually and collectively attach great importance to maintain the confidence and invariably address the losing party why they have lost.

To fulfil such aspiration of people, five Dzongkhags, on yearly rotation basis, will be allocated to the Justices of the Supreme Court.

The Justices will be required to visit their respective Dzongkhags and submit the confidential report highlighting the track record of the judges annually.
