NC rejects NAs amendment on parliamentary entitlement billThe National Council rejected the proposal put up by the National Assembly that the Speaker’s pay be slightly higher than that of Opposition Leader and Council’s Chairperson.

Instead, the Upper House decided that the salary of the three be at par. They said all of them shoulder same responsibility.

The National Council’s members also said the salary of the MPs should not be equivalent to that of constitutional post holders as proposed by the assembly. They said Pay Commission should take up any issues related to salary.

They also said that MPs should at least pay green tax while purchasing a vehicle upto 3,000 cc in the beginning of their tenure. Earlier, the assembly had proposed that the lump sum amount to purchase a vehicle should be free of taxes.
