Apr 20 2011
The scheme will be available to more than 7,000 monks of the Zhung Dratshang.
The Managing Director of RICBL, Namgyal Lhendup, said “very often, the monks have difficulty when they fall sick. Many have nobody to look after them.”
Under the scheme, the monks of the central monastic body will be able to avail themselves of medical treatment in “reputed hospitals in India.”
The annual premium is Nu. 860 per person. The scheme is also expected to reduce the government’s expenses on health care.
