Arrow hits a man in Punakha

An arrow hits a 45-year-old man in Lingmukha under Punakha, at 3 PM, yesterday. The arrow pierced the victim’s neck during a friendly match.

The victim was on the other side of the target when his friend released the arrow. The victim is said to have pulled out the arrow himself and was immediately rushed to the hospital.

He is undergoing treatment and is said to be in a stable condition.

This is the fifth such case in the last four years in Punakha.

Meanwhile, the doctors say removing arrow, without the supervision of medical staff, is not advisable as it could lead to fatalities.

Such incidences are increasing by the year. This year, 28 people were hit by arrows. One lost his life.

The record maintained by the Thimphu Hospital says the hospital saw 20 such cases in 2012-13.

Four such cases were referred to India.

Dr. Tashi Tenzin of  the JDWNR Hospital said it is challenging for the hospital to tackle the increasing number of such incident.
