The Punatshangchhu Hydro Electric Project-II completed the excavation of a head race tunnel from Adit one to De-silting Chamber.
In a hydropower project Adit, is the way to access the tunnel. And the De-silting Chamber, built behind a water intake of power plant, acts as a basin where the sedimentation of the silt takes place.
To mark the major breakthrough, the secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Dasho Sonam Tshering, pressed a button to blast the last chunk of rock in between De-silting Chamber and Adit one.
The water conductor system of the project is divided into six parts to make the construction easy.
Speaking at the occasion, Dasho Sonam Tshering thanked the government of India for releasing the fund on time. The government of India has released Nu. 22 billion till now of which 20 billion has already been used.
