His Majesty visits archaeological museum

Their Majesties-Lion Capital of Ashoka-Sarnath Archaeological Museum- His Majesty the King and the Gyaltsuen visited archaeological museum at Sarnath in the Indian city, Varanasi, yesterday.

The museum has many life-sized image of a standing Bodhisattva and the original Ashoka Pillar. It also has artifacts related to Buddhist art and images and sculptures of Hindu Gods recovered during excavation in the region.

Their Majesties also visited the tallest standing statue of Lord Buddha in India, at the Thai Buddha Vihar. Their Majesties offered prayers at the site and the Thai monks recited special prayers for Their Majesties.

Their Majesties had visited Chuakhandi Stupa and Dharmarajika Stupa, on Wednesday. Bhutanese students studying in Universities in Varanasi had also joined Their Majesties for the prayer ceremony. Their Majesties then proceeded to visit many other holy sites.

Their Majesties are scheduled to arrive back in country, today.
