Switzerland’s Ambassador calls on PM

PM meets the Swiss Ambassador-The Ambassador of Switzerland to Bhutan, Linus Von Castelmur, called on the Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay today.

The ambassador is in the country to sign the mutual visa exemption agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Secretary.

A press release from the Prime Minister’s Office say the arrangement is expected to facilitate official travel between the two countries and further strengthen contacts and cooperation.

The release says Mr. Castelmur emphasised on the ‘spirit of compromise’, which connects the two nations, and said that Bhutan and the Swiss governments must build on positive association and tap the existing goodwill.

Lyonchhen said he was very impressed with the Swiss craftsmanship and inquired if Bhutanese people could be sent to Switzerland for research, training and apprenticeship in vocational trainings and if possible, send students to study at a university level.

Mr. Castelmur and Lyonchhen also discussed on furthering business to business and people to people contacts.

Lyonchhen thanked the ambassador for Swiss assistance in the 10th FYP and their commitment in the 11th FYP.

Bhutan and Switzerland would be celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations in 2015.
