NC’s Chairperson discusses Tsamdro and Shokshing

NC-Chairperson-Tsamdro and Shokshing- The government will lease Tsamdro and Shokshing, starting this month, said the National Council Chairperson, Dasho Sonam Kinga. He was speaking to the people of Phongmey Gewog under his Dzongkhag, Trashigang.

Dasho Sonam Kinga said Tsamdro and Shokshing have been reverted to government land seven years ago but no compensation has been paid to the people, as per the Land Act.

He said the National Land Commission had asked the government to pay, which was not heeded to. He said they didn’t even lease it to the people. It was unfair and did not do justices to the people, Dasho said.

With the leasing out to begin this month, Dasho forewarned that problems are likely to emerge. He said Shokshing would have already been used for infrastructure like farm road, schools and Basic Health Unit. Even if it has been used for other purposes, Dasho said, the owners of Shokshing have the right to use it on lease. He said it may take time to find solutions to this sort of problem.

The people of Dasho’s constituency also spoke of their disappointment at the recent telecommunication tax.

Starting Thursday, every user availing telecommunication facilities is levied 5 percent telecommunication tax.

Dasho said the National Assembly passed the tax and nothing much can be done. However, he did assure that he will let the government know of their disappointment.

Other issues such as a bridge over Yudhiri in Phongmey, human wildlife conflict, gewog boundary and delimitation issues were also raised.
