Bhutan star discovered

The undiscovered superstar of the Bhutan star was finally discovered today after four months of competition among 27 aspiring singers. The grand finale was held at the Nazhoen Pelri in Thimphu. It was also broadcast LIVE on BBS TV. Seconds before the name of the winner was announced, Tshering Penjor looked a little nervous. However, Tashi Tshering who was also vying for the winner’s title appeared calm.

As soon as the winner’s name was announced, people who came to witness the grand finale shouted and screamed with joy over Tshering Penjor’s victory. He took home a full option Maruti alto car.

Tshering Penjor who studied till the 10th grade was working as a driver with a private firm.  He said he is grateful to all his supporters for making him the winner.

The first runner up was Tashi Tshering, a sales boy at a handicraft shop in one of the hotels in Thimphu. He took home a Maruti alto car with air conditioner.

Kewa Zangpo, a care taker at a school in Pemagatshel was declared the second runners up. He also took home a Maruti alto car.

All said they will now pursue singing career.

The fourth and the fifth position holder Sonam T Dorji from Wangdue and Lhendup from Monggar walked away with a mountain bicycle each and a cash prize of Nu. 100,000 and Nu. 50,000.

The search for the undiscovered star began on November 20 last year with 27 contestants.
