Drug supplier apprehended

Police have apprehended a 36-year-old man for reportedly supplying drugs in the capital.

He was apprehended in Monggar yesterday after police recovered drugs from his residence in the capital.

Police recovered hundreds of tablets and several bottles containing mind altering substances. The man, a tourist guide, was identified as a supplier of drugs by a 22-year-old man who was earlier apprehended by the Thimphu Police.

He will be handed over to the Thimphu police tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Gelephu Dungkhag court has sentenced a 23-year-old man to nine years in prison. The verdict was passed yesterday. Prabat Sonari from Assam was caught earlier this year for supplying drugs to youth in Gelephu.
