No price rise of commodities after Green Tax- Lyonpo Norbu WangchukA multi-sectoral task force visited Thimphu town, today, to understand if there has been any increase in the price of the commodities because of Green Tax.

A few people had said price of commodities have increased after the levy of 5 percent Green Tax came on fuel came into effect.

The Economic Affairs Minister, Norbu Wangchuk said there hasn’t been any rise in the price of the commodities in the past few days.


“…We have been to vegetable market and we observed that the price of vegetables was seen following the general pattern…”

Lyonpo Norbu Wangchuk also said they visited meat shops and groceries and found that there hasn’t been any increase in the price of the commodities following Green Tax.

The task force, chaired the minister, will hereafter study and monitor price movements of the market and recommend the government policies and mechanisms to manage inflation.
