India’s PM to arrive in Bhutan tomorrow

NarendraModi- Bhutan Visit.India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will be visiting the country tomorrow at the invitation of His Majesty the King. According to a press release from the Foreign Ministry, the Prime Minister will be accompanied by Sushma Swaraj, the Minister for External Affairs, Ajit Doval the National Security Adviser and Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will receive an audience with His Majesty the King and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

Mr. Modi will also address the Joint Sitting of the Parliament on Monday. During the course of the visit, the Indian Prime Minister will unveil the Foundation Stone of the 600 Megawatt Kholongchu Hydropower Project and inaugurate the new Supreme Court building.

Narendra Modi took an oath as the Prime Minister of India on May 26, a little more than a week following his party’s decisive victory at the polls. Modi’s party, the Bharatiya Janata Party was the first to win a clear majority in the India’s lower house of Parliament since 1980s.

The man India chose as its 15th Prime Minister started small. He is a son of a tea seller. He grew up in a small town of Vadnagarin North Gujarat’s Mehsana district.
As a young man, he volunteered for Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) working as a political activist and community organiser. RSS is a socio-cultural organization based in Ahmedabad working towards the social and cultural regeneration of India.

In 1987, a different chapter began in the life of Narendra Modi. It was the start of his political career with the BJP. He began as the party’s General Secretary in Gujarat.

In 1995, almost a decade later, Narendra Modi became BJP’s National Secretary, looking after party’s activities in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

In 2001, he left the world of organizational politics to join the world of governance. He made his mark on both the Indian and global stage as the Chief Minister of the western state of Gujarat. Following a record four terms as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi was elected as the 15th Prime Minister of India.

Besides politics, he enjoys writing and has authored several books, including poetry. Narendra Modi was born on the September 17, 1950; three years after India gained its independence. This makes him the first Prime Minister to be born in independent India.
