Speaker cancels Question hourThe Speaker of the National Assembly, Jigme Zangpo, cancelled the Question Hour, which was supposed to be held this morning. He said the Prime Minister and Ministry of Information and Communications did not receive the questions within the stipulated time. The Speaker said the questions are to reach the concerned agencies prior to 48 hours before the sitting.

He also added that as per the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, “working days” means week days excluding Saturdays, Sundays and government holidays.


However, the members of the Opposition expressed disappointment over the cancellation of the Question Hour.

The Dramedtse- Ngatshang, MP Ugyen Wangdi said they had submitted the four questions last Friday after the opening session of the Assembly. “It is important to make it clear that we have always been submitting the questions on Friday.”

The Panbang MP, Dorji Wangdi, said their calculation makes up more than 48 hours from the time they submitted the questions on Friday.
