PM meets SAARC’s Secretary General

PM-SAARC Secretary General-Arjun Bahadur Thapa The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, met with the SAARC Secretary General, Arjun Bahadur Thapa, yesterday. The SAARC Secretary General from Nepal was on his introductory visit to Bhutan. He assumed the post in March this year.

Lyonchhen expressed his confidence that Mr. Thapa would be able to provide sound guidance and leadership in steering SAARC to accomplish its objectives given his distinguished diplomatic career and vast experience in dealing with international relations.

The SAARC Secretary General said that he believes in making SAARC a living reality.

Lyonchhen conveyed that Bhutan is looking forward to the 18th SAARC Summit and its preceding meetings in Kathmandu in November this year.Ambassador Stewart Beck- farewell call on PM

In the meantime,the Ambassador of Canada to Bhutan, Stewart Beck, also called on the Prime Minister. It was a farewell call on.

Lyonchhoen said Mr. Beck’s tenure as the Ambassador had contributed greatly in strengthening the ties between Bhutan and Canada.

The Prime Minister said he would continue to draw on the Ambassador’s personal friendship and goodwill to explore other areas of commercial partnership.
