The National Council discussed on the changes required in the Local Government Rules and Regulation, today. The issue was put forward to the parliament by the members of the local government in Bumthang.

During a special session of Dzongkhag Tshogdu in Bumthang last month, the gups had discussed the need for decentralization of power in the financial aspect. They had said they couldn’t carry out many of the development activities due to lack of financial power.
However, the Chairperson of the National Council, Dr. Sonam Kinga said the changes in the Local Government Rules and Regulation will be discussed further given its importance.
