A health screening and testing camp in Trongsa checked over 2,200 workers of the Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project. The four-day camp, which ended yesterday, carried out blood screening and other general physical checkups. The camp was held at the project site.
Doctor Lhendup K Gyelpo said such camps help detect diseases prevalent among the foreign workers employed at megaprojects like the Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Project. “I have been here for about seven months and till now I have encountered about 10 people with positive STI. These are people who came forward, our people are shy to come forward and they usually come when it is severe I am pretty sure there might be others who have still not come forward.”
