Bhutan Biogas Project goes to Trashigang

Biogas-TrashigangThe Bhutan Biogas Project has finally come to Trashigang. Trashigang has the potential to establish more than 2,000 biogas plants in the Dzongkhag. It is the second most feasible Dzongkhag for biogas plants in the country after Samtse.

To kick-start the project, the Bhutan Biogas Project is training the first group of masons and supervisors to construct the biogas plants. Around 40 livestock officials and masons from Trashigang and Trashi Yangtse Dzongkhags are currently being trained.

The project is being first implemented in Pam village under Samkhar Gewog. Eight biogas plants are being constructed in Pam.

“The first dairy group in the Dzongkhag was started in Pam and then it successfully spread to other 15 gewogs. Similarly, it is our hope that if we start our biogas project from Pam, then it will be successful,” said the Assistant Dzongkhag Livestock Officer, Kuenga Dechen.Biogas-Trashigang-

“There is a lot of demand from the central and eastern dzongkhags because the project is very successful in the south,” said the Bhutan Biogas Project’s Chief Technical Advisor, Prakash Ghimire.

Bhutan Biogas Project has installed more than a 1,000 biogas project till now. “All those plants are working very well.”

The Bhutan Biogas Project has plans to construct more than 200 biogas plants in Trashigang during the first year. The project has received good support from farmers in the Dzongkhag.
