Four policemen injured in an ambush in Sarpang

Four police personnel were injured in an ambush in Sarpang yesterday. The incident took place in Patiabari at around 10-11 pm.

Seven police personals including an officer were returning to Sarpang after attending a case in the village.

More than 47 rounds of bullets were shot. The tyre was almost burnt, glasses broken and left four of the personnel injured.

They sustained bullet wounds on their lower abdomens.

Two of the injured have been referred to the National referral hospital in Thimphu.

According to RBP officials, the miscreants consist of 15-20 people who were in camouflage dress and they shot from the bushes, below the road- at a distance of two metres from the road. The police personnel could escape only after retaliation.

This is the first such case in Sarpang since 2009.
