The White-Bellied Heron was first spotted in Bhutan in 1975 by His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo. Also known as the Imperial Heron, they are among 50 of the rarest birds in the world.
White-Bellied Heron were historically found in the Eastern Himalayan foothills of India, Nepal, Tibet, Burma and Bhutan. Today most of these places see very less numbers of the bird. It is extinct in Nepal. Our producer, Tenzin Rabgye, brings you the report.
