Impressive progress in Trongsa

The Prime Minister Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y Thinley expressed appreciation for the achievements made by Trongsa Dzongkhag. In most sectors, Trongsa Dzongkhag has made an achievement of more than 90 percent.

All five geogs in the Dzongkhag achieved above 90 percent in accessibility for clean drinking water. Under the education sector, the dzongkhag has achieved 100 percent in pre-primary enrollment. In the agriculture sector, 9 kilometres of the 23 kilometres targeted in the plan had been constructed.

Of the five kilometres targeted under farm road maintenance programme, around four kilometres were rebuilt.

Out of four outreach clinics targeted in the 10th Five Year Plan, two have been set up and in terms of telephone connectivity; the dzongkhag has achieved 100 percent. However, in terms of mobile connectivity, the dzongkhag is yet to achieve 100 percent. Works to connect geogs with mobile network is in full swing. Of the five geogs, only one geog has no electricity.

The midterm review was also informed that tourist arrivals in the dzongkhag are increasing every year.

The Prime Minister commended on the achievements and said the appreciation should not make the implementers and the planners in the dzongkhag complacent.

Lyocnhhoen Jigmi Y Thinley said that the officers and the local leaders should work more hard to carry out the future plans successfully.

Trongsa dzongkhag has a population of over 14,000 with over 2,700 households.
