De-Suung training begins

desung-The 11th batch of De-Suung will begin their training. The program was launched at the Military Training Centre at Tencholing in Wangdue Phodrang, today. About 120 volunteers, including 31 women, are taking part in the program.

The launch of the program began with a prayer ceremony. The volunteers then took oath reaffirming their pledge to serve the Tsa-Wa-Sum.

The economic affairs minister, Norbu Wangchuk, who was the chief guest at the launch, said the program promotes voluntarism among the diverse group of young people.

The participants will be taught to be effective during disasters.  During the four week training De-Sups will be given first hand training on search and rescue operations, preservation and conservation cultural heritage and traditions, and  conservation of environment.

The training program will end on April 19.
