(Update):After searching for six days, officials have called-off the search for the missing contractor from today. The contractor from Paro was washed away after the boat he was on capsized in the middle of Gongri River, bordering Pema Gatshel and Monggar. In the last two days the search team combed the river about 40 kilometres downstream from the accident site till Pangbang. The officials said they tried all means but to no avail.
The incident occurred at around 3:30 PM on Thursday, three kilometers upstream from Yangbari suspension bridge.
They were transporting constructing materials across the River for the new bridge when the incident occurred. There were five people including two boatmen. The wooden motor boat was hired from Barpeta in India. Four of them could swim to safety while the contractor was washed away.
