New Hindu temple for Jigme Choeling residents

hinThe new Laxmi Narayan Hindu temple at Jigme Chhoeling Gewog, Sarpang was consecrated yesterday. Hundreds of people from nearby Gewogs attended the consecration ceremony. And the locals are happy as they have been waiting for months for the ceremony.

Although the temple located on a mountain ridge completed long ago they couldn’t buy statues for the temple and had to delay the consecration ceremony. But donors came to their rescue.   “The statues will be carried and taken around the villages yearly. On doing it, we will be protected from natural disasters like earthquakes and floods as per the Shastra,” says the temple’s Pundit, Mon Narayan Nirola.

The locals say consecration ceremony marks the beginning of success, peace and prosperity in the Gewog and nation as a whole.

“While taking the statues around the villages there was rain though there wasn’t rainfall till now. We think it was a good omen and are very happy. So this year 2014 is a year of accomplishment and happiness,” says a local resident, Tila Devi Subedi.

Some of the local residents also say that the temple will benefit the people of Dagana and Tsirang as well.
