Gold smuggling case forwarded to OAG

 

OAG-KetamineCaseParo Police forwarded the case of the seven Indians detained in connection with gold smuggling to the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) today. The investigation found that the men were involved in a gold smuggling racket in India.

Police also found that each carrier was paid Rs. 5000 for every kilogramme of gold smuggled in.

Of the seven, four were caught from the Paro airport by customs officials on February 22nd. They were caught carrying around eight kilogrammes of gold, hidden in their undergarments.

Another Indian, who came to pick them, was caught from outside the airport. And the rest two were caught from a hotel in Thimphu.

Police also found out that two other Indians had smuggled in about a kilogramme of gold each a few days before the arrest.
